Getting out of debt can seem like a daunting task. Getting out of debt on a low income or when you have no money can seem impossible. I have met with so many women who simply ignored their growing debt because they didn’t believe there was anything they could do to change their situation. When it comes to your financial situation, do you feel trapped, like there’s no way out? If you answered yes, understand that this is a classic case of perception vs. reality. There is always a way out.

Pray to God.
There is only one entity that can handle the impossible and that’s God. Have you prayed about your money situation? What are you asking for? When you take your worries to God, be mindful and very intentional about what you’re praying for. Don’t just ask God to send you some money. Think about what you really need. Maybe you need to be more disciplined with your money or more dedicated to finding a new job. If you work a stressful job and lack the energy to job search, try praying for the strength you need to put in a few applications a week. Ask God to open your eyes to opportunities and to strengthen your network.
Pray for opportunities. Remember the saying, “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure?” I believe this speaks to being able to see an opportunity where others cannot. When you begin your financial journey, one thing you can pray for is for God to open your eyes to the opportunities to generate income that are all around you. Did you hear that? An powerful daily affirmation.
I see financial opportunities all around me.
After you’ve put everything on the Main Line, now it’s time to express gratitude. Last summer I found myself resenting my current living space and constantly talking about all that was wrong with it. When I realized what I was doing and how negative my thoughts were, I immediately asked for forgiveness. I am grateful to have shelter, and to further show my gratitude I started decorating my apartment. I wanted to express this to God and decorating not only helped me do that but gave me something to love about my current situation. Think of ways you can express gratitude and honor God with the money you have now.
